Adelaide drilling component has been completed

Great news from Adelaide! We have successfully completed the horizontal drilling component at the landing site, achieving a total distance of just over 1,000 meters. The next step is to verify the offshore HDD Exit with the diving team.

The video above shows a timelapse of the drilling that took place in Adelaide. The HDD drilling component started with drilling a pilot hole using a steerable drill bit that follows the planned path. Once the pilot hole is complete, it is enlarged using a reamer, which is pulled back and forth along the hole. Drilling fluid is used throughout to stabilise the borehole, remove cuttings, and lubricate the process.

After reaming to the desired diameter, the cable can be attached to the reamer and pulled back through the borehole to the entry point.
