Last Wednesday, we gathered with our SMAP partners, including Randwick City Council, UGL, UEA, the La Perouse Aboriginal Community, and others, to celebrate the start of the Sydney portion of the SMAP cable build.
It has been 15 Years since PPC-1 Landed in Sydney, which marks a special day for Bevan and Jodie Slattery coming back to land another cable, once again designed to build for the future.
Bevan stated, “it’s hard to believe it has been 15 years since PPC-1, and It honestly feels like yesterday. I recall the PPC-1 cable launched on day one with a total capacity of 160 Gbps.”
“Now, we’re building a cable that is truly designed for the future. With 400Tbps, it’s remarkable how much the technology has advanced.”
We are proud that the initial work at Maroubra will be carried out by NSW-based UEA Group, employing local talent and supporting regional growth.
